Bookhitch.com was conceived as the first of its kind - a "portal" for unique books that links authors and publishers directly to their readers. Operating under a simple business model, bookhitch eliminates the need for a middleman in the book distribution chain, allowing authors and publishers to collect the profits instead of losing a substantial portion of their sales margin to outside vendors. The bookhitch search engine offers books on thousands of specialized subjects; readers can browse by genre, or find a book by a favorite author or specific title.
Bookhitch.com offers two types of listing services
- Free Listing: Publishers and authors can add an unlimited number of print, digital, and audio titles to the website.
- Premium Listing: For $19.95 per year/per title, publishers and authors can help to promote their books with the following additional features:
- a full-color display of the book cover
- an expanded, 120-word book description
- an author biography
- book reviews
- a separate web page, with a URL that can be placed on the author's and/or publisher's website
- the book(s) featured (randomly) on the bookhitch homepage
- book videos
- first chapter text previews
